Show 0014: Thankful for assembly language

Welcome to Show 0014! All of the folks who tried to reach me this time were wanting to know when the next podcast would be out; well, now you know! The maker of BBS: The Documentary is now working on Get Lamp, another documentary about early computing, this time about text adventures–check the trailer out at YouTube. Syndicomm has made GSoft BASIC (the free version) available for download. Tony Diaz, perhaps best known as the leader of the KansasFest committee, has started a new site, Apple2.info, which is a wealth of Apple II information (just as I’d expect from Tony). Ryan Suenaga (yes, your A2Unplugged host) has made his software available on a new Web page and is working on updates to his programs (and maybe a new one or two). GSE-Reactive is now known as Reactive Micro. James Littlejohn unveils a couple of new hardware products. Finally, our main topic: a review of Assembly Language for the Applesoft Programmer.

Show 0013: KansasFest 2007 is a wrap

Welcome to Show 0013! Nibble Magazine‘s original domain is hijacked; go to nibblemagazine.net instead. KansasFest 2007 is over. Some highlights–increased attendance; the new/old/long lost mix of attendees; Ryan’s weird bonding experience with Vespa riding Carrington of 1MHz included their podcast choices (Tiki Bar, MacBreak Weekly, and This Week in Tech) but not their haircuts–and folks, Carrington is not acting; HackFest; and all kinds of sessions. Some lowlights–Krispy KremeFest fails to deliver, Denny‘s is closed for the night, the dearth of new products, and one live episode of A2Unplugged going south. There is a new Sweet16 and a new SMS NDA for those wanting new products. Juiced.GS switches hands. A2Unplugged donated iWoz as a prize and also won some prizes, including the Chop Shop Apple II shirt donated by Sean Fahey of A2Central.com. KansasFest 2008 scheduled is for July 22-27, 2008 at Rockhurst University in Kansas City–join us for 20 years of KansasFest.

Show 0005: All Shook Up with some C mixed in

Welcome to show 0005! Earthquake delay! That’s over and done, so the show can begin. Voicemail from Sing this time, who may be one of Rodney‘s buddies. Catakig and Virtual ][ are both updated, and KansasFest 2007 announces its keynote speaker. A question on C implementations for the Apple II leads to our main discussion. Aztec C, HyperC, cc65, MPW C, MPW ORCA/C, and finally ORCA/C by Byte Works (available from Syndicomm, either by itself or on Opus ][) all are discussed.

Show 0002: A Look at Nibble on DVD

Welcome to show 0002!

1 MHz! beat A2Unplugged out the door (by several months at that) to be the world’s first Apple II Podcast. Sorry, Carrington. Great listener comments in email from Allan, Kim, Bobby, and Mike, and a voicemail from Colin. Thanks everyone. Bobby wanted to know if an interview with “old skool” (sic) Apple II programming Gods like Burger Bill Heineman might be possible. Anything’s possible with an Apple II, of course!

PC World magazine named their 25 Greatest PCs of All Time in honor of the 25th anniversary of the IBM PC… guess who’s number one.

Eric “Sheppy” Shepherd has been hard at work on updating Sweet16 for Mac OS X, and his company, Syndicomm, has cut prices on two of their magazine compilation CD-ROMs, Simply Softdisk G-S and Softdisk Supreme.

The main topic of this episode is a review of the Complete Nibble Library on DVD. Check out the other Nibble products also at their Web site.

Seeya all in two weeks!
